MiRAGETV don’t appear on my radar that often, but when they do it’s always worth a watch. Their last pre that I watched was about Intelligent Design and boy did I learn a lot. People who have been watching the likes of Deadliest Catch should be interested in this release that appeared yesterday. It provides an inside look into what is happening with the animal life in Alaska region. Quality is nothing to complain about, with video bitrate being particularly superb. As scientists and environmentalists race the clock to find answers, pressure has been growing on Alaska’s fishing industry to suspend most of its pollock fishing, on the suspicion that it is robbing Steller’s sea lions of an important source of food. A Chinese factory worker has become an Internet sensation after a picture of her smiling and flashing a peace sign to a co-worker testing an Apple iPhone stayed on the phone that was sold to a man in Britain. Photos of the unidentified, smiling woman were posted on the Apple discussion website MacRumours.com by a customer identified as “markm49uk” from Kingston-upon-Hull and quickly posted around other sites. “Not sure if this is or is not the ‘norm’ but I just received my brand new iPhone here in the UK and once it had been activated on iTunes I found that the home screen (the screen you can personalize with a photo) already had a photo set against it!!!!” he wrote.

“It would appear that someone on the production line was having a bit of fun - has anyone else found this?” Some people voiced concern that the woman could now lose her job while others joked on the website that they were considering returning their phones because they did not come loaded with a photo. “I think its a kind of personal touch. It’s nice. Maybe every phone that gets a full quality test should have its tester’s picture taken and left on there. And the working conditions look pretty good,” wrote one. Taiwanese company Foxconn assembles the iPhones for Apple in Shenzhen in southern China but calls to the company by Reuters went unanswered.

Greetings! This is my first write up for Release Log with hopefully many more to come. I will focus on releases that I find to be the best bang for your bandwidth, both new and old. Here we have a new 2 part episode of Metalocalypse from the good people at aAF. This is a pretty good series that airs Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim block late Sunday nights. They have been broadcasting new episodes here and there over the past year. This is the first new episode to be shown since mid July with the last few episodes of season 2 to be shown in the coming weeks. Metalocalypse parodies other “band” and supernatural programs, combining dark comedy and Apocalyptic intrigue in following the exploits of the part-American/part-Scandinavian death metal band Dethklok. The band enjoys a popularity level unheard of in reality, ranking just above Belgium as the twelfth largest economy on Earth. They are so popular that impressionable fans will often do anything their songs tell them, even if it means death, which is usually the case. If Dethklok endorses a product or service, it quickly drives every competitor out of business.

The term “Metalocalypse” refers to a mystical prophecy relating to a worldwide Apocalyptic event, which the band is predicted to usher in via their Metal music and reckless and frivolous association of evil Underworld forces in their music and lifestyle; however the band is, naturally, utterly clueless to the Metalocalypse (along with most other things, other than their own shallow greed and comfort); however this mystical underworld influence also apparently relates to their uncanny ability to command worldwide attention and effortlessly influence masses of people.

Group ARiSCO released yet another Brazilian movie which holds a fairly decent rating at IMDB: a romantic musical Chega De Saudade. The movie won an award for Best Film at Brazilian Film Festival so the quality should be good. The audio is obviously portugese but there are English, French and Spanish subtitles so it’s easy to understand.

In an old-time dance hall (the “gafieira”) in São Paulo, one evening is all it takes to meet different characters as they remember the past, live the present, wonder about the future, have fun, flirt, fight and, naturally, dance.
